Student of the Month - May 06
Therese Robertson

Therese is an ‘arty-crafty’ type of lady with her oil paintings, sewing and knitting.
Therese always had a love of leadlighting but it wasn’t until they purchased their character home in Feilding that Therese was prompted to learn leadlighting so she could make her own windows and lampshades.
Therese has been with Glassworks-Leadlight Products for over a year now creating some wonderful works of art.
Such a perfectionist, she is a pleasure to have here at Glassworks - producing fabulous quality originals.
Pictured is Therese’s unique toilet door window panel, with overlays and clever Taurus cuts - we have all enjoyed watching her make. The other picture is Therese’s hutch panel using glue chip and a bevel. Currently Therese is making lampshades for her home which, of course, are looking divine and such a labour of love!

Catherine Wolicki

When Catherine’s husband suggested she make a leadlight window for their bathroom to compliment the new renovations, her first reaction was “I can’t do that, I’m not good enough”.
It had been a year since Catherine had completed Start Up Leadlighting. Tutor Di said “So naturally Catherine was nervous about starting such a challenging project. However she was organized right from the start, having clear goals on the look of her original design, which is often the hardest part of your first large project”.
Catherines design was inspired by her favourite New Zealand native plant, the flax, her love of water and the want for vibrant ‘wow’ colours to be the standout feature in the bathroom. The panel took her 3-4 months to complete having to work on the lead assembly a lot at home over the Christmas tutoring break.
Di says of the work “All credit to Catherine – she spent ages putting pieces in and out (which reminds me of when I started leadlighting long ago!) and the final results is truly stunning. Well done Catherine, do make sure you continue the momentum!”
